Tipp City team wins select first division U-13
soccer title
The FC Tippecanoe ’93 Nitro squad, consisting of
players from Tipp City and West Milton, recently won the
Spring Miami Valley Youth Soccer Association’s Boys
Select First Division 13-and-under championship.
Competing against squads from Dayton, Centerville, Englewood
and Springfield, the Nitro finished in sole possession of
first place with a record of 7-1-2.
“Our team is built on solid defense, recording six
straight clean sheets (shutouts) at one point in the season
and ending with the fewest goals allowed in the league,”
said head coach Dave Bechtol. “The shutout record
was ended by a late-game penalty kick that trickled into
goal off the keeper’s gloves. On offense, we were
slow to start but finished the season strong.”
Based on its first-place finish, the Nitro should move
up to the Premier League next year against the toughest
competition in the area.
